HEATING IS NOW IN EFFECT

Attention Residents of both SkyCity 1 and SkyCity 2,

Please be advised that the building’s fan coil system has now been turned over to heat.

Heating should now be in full operation in all areas of the building, including Units. Please adjust your thermostats as necessary.

If you do not wish to have heat in your Unit simply turn your heat system off, however, leave your fan on. The fan should always be left on as it must circulate air throughout your Unit. The heating element will remain off so the air will not be warmed up.

During this time you WILL NOT be able to use the air conditioning feature on your fan coil system. This is due to the fact that our building runs on a fan coil system that will only offer you one of the two options, heating or air conditioning. The building must switch between heat and air conditioning for all Units. This feature cannot be individualized with fan coil units. In other words, if the building is providing heat at this moment, you will not be able to turn on the air conditioning until it is time for the entire building to change over to air conditioning, and vice versa.

In Suite Heating

Attention Residents of SkyCity 1 (55 Oneida),

With the cooler temperatures upon us, the heating change over has been scheduled for the first week of October.  

For those of you wishing to obtain warm air in your Unit until the changeover takes place, you can set your thermostat to heat. There is a heating coil built into the system that will allow warm air to circulate throughout the suite. Once switched to heat the auxiliary heater will kick in and you should notice a difference in temperature. Please note, that once the heating coil is activated it will give off a smell. This is normal.

If you require additional heat for your Unit, there are space heaters available at the Security desk for sign-out on a first-come-first-serve basis. Space heaters should not be kept on overnight for safety purposes.

Notices will be posted once again for residents once the heat is in full operation so that you are able to adjust your thermostats accordingly.

Improper Cigarette Disposal

Attention all SkyCity 2 Residents on the 9th floor and up:

URGENT attention and IMMEDIATE action are required to stop the careless tossing of cigarette butts off all balconies. Living in a condominium requires an understanding by each resident that they live in a community with others. This behaviour not only constitutes as a nuisance for the residents of the building but more importantly, constitutes a safety hazard for everyone.

Balcony fires are a real threat. Your safety and the safety of everyone else living in this building is at risk. There must be absolutely zero tolerance for this dangerous act.

They CAN, they WILL and they HAVE lit condominiums ON FIRE.

It is in the best interest of each resident and their guest who choose to smoke on the balcony to ensure that cigarette butts are disposed of properly and not tossed below where they can blow onto someone else’s balcony.

For those units that face the 3rd-floor outdoor terrace area has artificial turf, which is a flammable product! If you cause a fire below, you are above it!

For the protection of life and property, if this problem persists we will further investigate and identify the perpetrators and deal with them accordingly. Please, we remind everyone that this is a new community at SkyCity and we should all take pride in keeping this building clean and safe.

Exterior Window Cleaning

Attention Residents at SkyCity 1,

Shinex will be washing all the building’s INACCESSIBLE windows commencing

If you would like your accessible windows cleaned for a fee please contact David from Shinex directly at david@shinex.ca by Friday, September 14, 2018, to have these arrangements made.

Please note, Unit access will be required by residents with roof anchors on their balconies to properly secure the workers while they are cleaning. Supervision by building staff will be provided during this time.  We are unable to give prior notice to these suites as the dates may vary depending on weather conditions such as wind.

WATER MAIN SHUTDOWN

ATTENTION RESIDENTS: ELEVATOR PROCEDURE

We have recently been experiencing a high amount of residents trying to reserve the elevators last minute or trying to use the elevators while they are fully reserved.

Due to both buildings sharing the loading deck and the entire building of SkyCity 2 moving in there are very limited elevator times available.

YOU/YOUR MOVERS/YOUR DELIVERY COMPANY will be TURNED AWAY if you show up without an elevator reservation, without paperwork & the proper damage deposit cheque or if you’re not present.

There are over 400 Units between both buildings and we must respect the rules in order for everyone to be given a fair opportunity reserving the elevators. The Service Elevator Agreement is available on the website and at the Security desk 24/7. You MUST complete the form and have your cheque ready every time you book the elevator. Large delivery items, such as televisions, will not be accepted by Security, YOU must be present to accept them. Please see Security as soon as you are aware of your elevator booking requirements as reservations are on a first-come-first-serve basis.
